Verizon Hit by Another Major Outage — Users Report Phones Stuck in SOS Mode
Just a week after suffering a major disruption that left many customers without service for nearly a full day, Verizon is facing another outage.
According to data from Downdetector, service began dropping around 1:00 p.m. ET, with the impact felt across major cities including New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Chicago. By 12:44 p.m. ET, there were already more than 1,500 reports of outages, a number that continued to climb through the hour.
On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), frustrated customers said their phones had slipped into SOS mode, leaving them unable to make calls or connect to mobile data. Others on Reddit threads reported disruptions in Florida, which some linked to Hurricane Milton.
This is a developing story—stay tuned for the latest live updates on Verizon’s new service outage.
